Liposuction, also known as Lipoplasty, is a surgical procedure carried out to remove unwanted fat cells from different parts of the body. This surgical operation is carried out by a plastic surgeon as it comes under the category of plastic surgery. A liposuction is done mostly in those regions where the fat cells normally accumulate in large amount such as the thighs, abdomen, buttocks and neck.
About Liposuction – ASPS VIDEO:
Since this accumulation of fat takes place in case of both, men and women, this operation is quite popular. Ideally, this operation must be avoided as much as possible but in some case, it is almost impossible to burn the fat from certain regions of our body by exercising and so, liposuction is the only available choice left. Liposuction not only makes your body lose fat, but it also ensures that your body is in the best shape.
Before going in for the surgery, you must take certain precautions and avoid all kinds of alcohol. Tell your surgeon about any allergies you have so that there would be no complications during the surgery. If you live in the Las Vegas area, you can get in touch with Brian J. Parker MD. He is an experienced surgeon and will be able to give you the best advice.
How the procedure is done?
This type of plastic surgery varies from person to person and also it depends on the amount of fat that needs to be removed. If the amount of fat to be removed is very less, the surgery can be done in a clinic and the patient can leave on the same day. On the other hand, if large amounts of fat needs to be removed, it can be done only in a hospital. Majority of the times, the patient has to take overnight rest at the hospital. The anesthetic administered can either be a local or a general anesthetic. As soon as the anesthesia takes full effect, the surgeon makes a cut in the region from where the fat has to be removed and inserts a suction device. The fat is then sucked out using a pump or a syringe.
Types of liposuction
There are mainly two types of techniques involved in the process of liposuction:
- Ultra sound assisted liposuction
In this technique, the surgeon takes the help of the ultrasound energy to liquefy the fat first and then removes it from the body.
- Tumescent Liposuction
Here, the surgeon injects a liquid solution into the fat first as it helps the cosmetic surgeon to remove it easily without any significant loss of blood. This saline solution used consists of epinephrine. It also causes less pain once the surgery is done.
This procedure gets rid of the fat content on a permanent basis. However, if you do not follow a proper diet and do not exercise, you will gain weight again. So you must work out even after the surgery. The recovery time for this procedure is very short and you can get back to your daily routine within a few days. Since liposuction comes under the category of cosmetic surgery, it is not usually covered under the health insurance. There are many qualified cosmetic surgeons in Las Vegas, like Brian J. Parker MD who are experts in Liposuction.
