Breast Reduction Surgery – Las Vegas
Be it surgical procedures like breast augmentation, breast lift and breast reduction, or non-surgical treatments like coolsculpting, venus freeze, fraxel, plastic surgeons have made looking good become so easy! Macromastia or large breasts can be reduced by means of a breast reduction plastic surgery. Breast reduction, helps in reshaping, and reducing the breast size or the dark skinned area around the areola.
How does a breast reduction surgery help?
Heavy breasts can cause chronic back, neck and chest pain. Apart from causing headaches, they can also lead to chest pains, sleep disturbances and result in shoulder grooving and poor posture. The symptoms that show up are very similar to those of neck arthritis, migraine, sleep apnea or disc syndromes, claims Brian J. Parker MD, who is reputed plastic surgeon of Las Vegas. Treating macromastia through non-surgical alternatives may seem futile if the symptoms are severe. Heat massage packs, chiropractic therapies and medications can help in treating mild symptoms. But a firm support bra, might not help as much, as it can cause rashes, increases chest wall and neck pain, if the symptoms are worse.
A breast reduction surgery can help in providing pain relief, improving the physical functionality and skeletal stability, reducing headaches, improving lung functionality and sleep patterns. Apart from this, it can indirectly help in improving your appearance and confidence, as large breasts can often make women feel uncomfortable or awkward. While the results are typically permanent in nature, they can vary due to pregnancy or weight fluctuations.
The breast reduction procedure
The procedure involves removing the excess fat and tissue present in the breasts surgically. Sometimes, a liposuction procedure may be performed along with excision methods to get better results. If the condition is not affected by the presence of excess skin, but is due to the presence of fatty tissues alone, just a liposuction is performed. Either way, the plastic surgeon decides on which plastic surgery is better suited for the individual.
For starters, the cosmetic surgeon sedates the individual using general anesthesia or intravenous alternatives. The cosmetic surgery starts with the surgeon making an incision on the patient’s skin. This could be a circular mark that surrounds the areola, a key hole shaped pattern along the areola perimeter that drops vertically down to the crease, or an anchor shaped pattern near the areola. The surgeon then repositions the areola which is still tethered to the underlying tissues and nerves. If the areola is to be reduced in size, the skin along its perimeter is excised. The excess breast tissue is then reduced, after which, it is lifted and contoured as desired. If the breasts are extremely large, the areola and nipple may have to be transplanted higher by means of a nipple graft. Sutures are stitched, to support the breasts. Surgical tape or skin adhesives might be used to cover the operated skin.
The surgery can take three to five hours. Swelling may be experienced in the operated area, in the days following the surgery. But this is perfectly normal and wanes away quickly. The patient may be asked to wear a surgical compression garment to reduce the swelling and provide better support.
