Breast lift surgery in Las Vegas
A breast lift is a surgery to reshape and lift sagging or drooping breasts. Pregnancy, weight gain and loss, gravity and breast feeding all take their toll on your breasts. The breasts lose their shape and firmness as the skin loses its elasticity. Surgery to reshape and lift sagging and droopy breasts is called a breast lift. It can also reduce the size of an enlarged areola (the dark skin around the nipple). A breast lift may be done in conjunction with a breast augmentation if your breasts are small or have lost volume due to pregnancy.

The Doctor will look at your complete medical history and conduct a physical examination, measuring the amount of drooping and sizing the proportions of your existing breast tissue with respect to your rib cage size. Any existing scars are evaluated to give the doctor an idea of your scarring potential. He will show you the approximate placement of the nipple and areola, because in order to lift the breasts, they will have to be moved to a higher position.
At this time the Doctor will explain the different techniques which are used and which one is best for you, to give you the most natural looking results, while minimizing scarring. The Doctor will also explain other options, such as whether a breast implant would be of benefit in your particular situation. Every patient is different so the Doctor will look at the particulars of your situation, and present the best options for you.
Review the list of medications which should not be ingested two weeks prior to the operation. Prophylactic antibiotics are prescribed prior to and for a few days after surgery to reduce the risk of surgical wound infection. A prescription for pain medication is also written, so that you have your pain pills when you return home from the operation.
Preoperative photographs are taken so that you can see the improvement from your surgery afterwards. We generally take postoperative photographs at 3 – 6 months after your procedure.
You will need to arrange for an escort to drive you to and from our office operating suite. It is mandatory to have someone stay with you for at least 24 hours after surgery, for your comfort and safety.
The Breast Lift Procedure
A breast lift is performed under a general anesthetic, which means you will sleep through the operation. You will be provided with anesthesia by a board-certified anesthesiologist. The time which it takes to complete this operation depends on the amount of lift, if an implant is placed and which type of technique is made.
There are several techniques that Dr. Parker uses. The most common involves anchor-shaped incisions following the natural skin grain and the breast contour. The incision outlines the area of skin to be removed, and the new position of the nipple and areola. The nipple is not removed from your breast, but rather the skin is rearranged below the nipple creating a “dart”, as in a dress, to tighten the envelope of skin in such a way as to give the breast more projection away from the chest. The nipple is positioned at approximately the level of the fold beneath the breast. Stitches are placed entirely beneath the skin, avoiding the need for later removal.
You will be up and around in a couple of days, but you should take it easy for at least one week. Swelling and bruising begins to subside in a week. Any discomfort can be controlled with pain medication prescribed by your surgeon. Any numbness in the nipples and the breast skin usually fades as the swelling subsides. You will be wearing a support bra for a few months after the operation. Every effort is made to make the incisions as inconspicuous as possible.
The normal time span for all of the initial swelling to subside is approximately 6-8 weeks. It takes one to two years for the scars to mature and fade. The Doctor will ask you to use a topical scar treatment to optimize the appearance of the scars. This will be detailed in the postoperative period.
